The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, has reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration with strategic national institutions following a courtesy visit to the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Alamala, Abeokuta, Brigadier General Engr. G.U. Nwamba, DSS, PSC(+), mni, CM. The visit formed part of the Branch’s efforts to deepen professional engagement and explore areas of cooperation between the Engineering profession and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of the NSE Abeokuta Branch, Engr. Olumayowa Ayodeji Idowu, FNSE, who congratulated Brigadier General Nwamba on his appointment as the 13th Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade. Engr. Idowu emphasized that Engineering remains a critical component of modern security architecture, supporting infrastructure development, communication systems, surveillance technologies, and logistics operations that are essential to national defence and security.
Responding, Brigadier General Engr. G.U. Nwamba, an Electrical and Electronic Engineer, welcomed the delegation and commended the Nigerian Society of Engineers for its role in advancing Engineering practice and national development. He highlighted several areas where he is proposing collaboration between the 35 Artillery Brigade and the NSE, particularly in infrastructure development, technical advisory support, and knowledge exchange. The Commander noted that the Brigade would benefit from the professional expertise of the Society and sought the support of NSE in advancing the proposed areas of partnership.
The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss possible partnerships that would enhance infrastructure development, technological advancement, and professional capacity building. Both parties expressed optimism that the engagement would further strengthen the relationship between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Society of Engineers, while contributing to national development, security, and Engineering innovation in Nigeria.
