…Reaffirms its commitment to peace, responsible political engagement
Remo Big Boys for Yayi, Ikenne Local Government Chapter (IKLG), has denied allegations linking its members to the destruction of a police station, damage to public property and the alleged assault on a police officer during an incident in Irolu-Remo, Ogun State, on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The group’s coordinator, Comrade Babasola Charles Oladapo, stated this in an official statement issued in response to allegations surrounding the incident, which reportedly involved the death of Falaja Opeyemi Olamilekan, a member of the political support group.
Oladapo said the organisation was deeply pained by the death of its member but maintained that his affiliation with the group should not be used to implicate the entire organisation in the subsequent events without credible evidence.
“Our organisation is a registered political support group established to promote political participation and civic engagement. We do not condone violence, destruction of property or attacks on security personnel,” the statement read.
The group said its internal inquiries had yielded information about an audio recording allegedly containing statements by an individual identified as Lekan, popularly known as Ojuloko, who reportedly claimed responsibility for the operation and expressed the view that his brother’s death would not go unanswered.
It also claimed to have received information about video footage purportedly showing aspects of the incident.
According to the statement, the group maintains that Ojuloko is not a member of Remo Big Boys for Yayi, IKLG, adding that he was reportedly accompanied by other individuals during the incident.
However, the organisation stressed that the authenticity, context and full contents of the alleged recordings, as well as the identities and roles of those involved, must be independently established by the appropriate authorities.
It urged the public to refrain from drawing conclusions or associating the alleged actions of individuals with the organisation solely because the deceased was one of its members.
“The identity and responsibility of those involved should be independently verified by the appropriate authorities before any definitive conclusions are reached,” the statement added.
The group also expressed sympathy with anyone injured during the incident and regretted the reported damage to public property, while calling for a thorough, impartial and evidence-based investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and the subsequent events.
It pledged to cooperate with relevant security agencies and provide any credible information lawfully available to it that could assist the investigation.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and responsible political engagement, the organisation urged community leaders, media practitioners and social media users to exercise caution in disseminating information about the incident.
It warned that unverified allegations could damage the reputations of innocent individuals and organisations, heighten tensions within the community and undermine efforts to restore peace.
The statement further called on anyone in possession of relevant audio or video evidence to submit it to the appropriate authorities for professional examination rather than circulate unsubstantiated claims.
“Our position is clear: membership of our organisation does not make the organisation responsible for every action allegedly taken by other individuals. Responsibility must be established through credible evidence and due process,” Oladapo said.
The group called for a fair and transparent investigation to establish the facts surrounding the death of Falaja Opeyemi Olamilekan and the subsequent incident in Irolu-Remo.
