..meets Governor Abiodun, Warns Nigerians Against Mayhem
The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Associate Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi has urged Nigerians to be calm, peaceful and to also respect the rule of law in their various activities across the country.
The commandant General stated this during his visit to Ogun State Command of the Corps on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
He also submitted further that the Corps will not hesitate to go after anyone who may want to cause mayhem in the country.
While addressing newsmen at the State Headquarters, Owu Dekudu Village, Off Kobape Road, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, the helmsman noted that the visit was a professional, normal and routine one meant to check on the welfare of his personnel across the federation.
In his words, “My message to Nigerians is that they should be very conscious and behave well. Nigerians are good people who respect the rule of law however we will not hesitate to go after anyone plotting mayhem”, he noted.
Earlier to his arrival at the State Headquarters, the Commandant General had made the first official stop over at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he met His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON.
The governor who was elated to receive the Commandant General appreciated his contributions to the maintenance of peace and order in the society and for his thoughtful innovations especially in the interest of national security.
While appreciating the Commandant General, the governor noted that the Service Commanders in the State work as one family and as a team especially in the interest of security and welfare of the people of Ogun State and its environs.
Afterwards, the Commandant General was received with a rousing welcome at the State Headquarters, Owu Dekudu Village, Off Kobape Road, Abeokuta, where the quarter guard presentation was also held in honour of the august visitor.
Thereafter, he went to the Ogun NSCDC Cooperative Building where he addressed officers and men of the Corps on several issues that could further take the service forward amongst the security architectures of the country.
During his address, the Commandant General also answered various questions from the officers and men and frantically gave his word to take the Corps to an enviable height worthy of everyone’s pride as Civil Defence personnel.
The Commandant General during his address at the State Headquarters, Abeokuta, noted that his idea is to fulfil the vision of the Corps which is “To build a positive culture that would create a new identity for the Corps in the security architecture of Nigeria”, he emphasized.
More importantly, he added that the Corps is undergoing several innovative transformations that would pay off in the nearest future especially ensuring every personnel gets whatever is due to them as at when due without knowing anyone.
He encouraged personnel to take up professional courses as this will improve their intellect and enhance their contributions to the security system in the country.
Commandant David Idowu Ojelabi mni, the host Commandant thanked and appreciated the Commandant General for his kind gestures and creative ideas aimed at bringing the best out of all personnel of the Corps.
Also in the CG’s entourage was the erstwhile Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, John Adewale Abolurin PhD, OFR, Rtd.,; the Zonal Commander, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zone A, ACG. Solomon Olasupo; the Zonal Commander, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zone J, ACG. Fasiu A. Adeyinka.
He was also accompanied by the State Commandants of: Oyo, Commandant Michael A. Adaralewa; Osun, Commandant Sunday Agboola; Ondo, Commandant Olayinka Olatundun; and Lagos, Commandant UI Alfadarai respectively amongst others.
In his parting words, the Commandant General promised to instil the required sense of discipline, professionalism and ethical conducts expected of a well trained security personnel through the planned and approved trainings at the NSCDC’s Command and Staff College, Jos as already started by the Corps amongst other capacity building programmes lined up for the officers and men of the Corps.
He also did not forget to admonish officers and men regarding the need to take their savings with the cooperative society very serious as this will improve their lots on retirement.
