The governorship candidate of the Boot Party in Ogun State for the forthcoming 2027 elections, Engr. Adekunle Dreher Adenuga, has advocated in-depth research into the root causes of the challenges bedevilling Nigeria so as to find lasting solutions and position the country on the path of rapid development.
Adenuga made this statement at the official unveiling of all the party’s candidates held at the Boot Party Secretariat in the Keesi area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Appreciating the party for entrusting him with the governorship ticket, Adenuga, who wholeheartedly accepted the nomination amidst jubilation from the crowd, assured that the party would triumph in 2027.
He said that his ambition was not driven by a desire to criticise previous administrations but by a determination to provide lasting solutions to the state’s and the nation’s challenges.
He noted that he has the solution to Nigeria’s problems and that Ogun State will serve as a model for other states of the federation to emulate.
According to Adenuga, the blueprint his team has developed aligns with national development objectives and is designed to serve as a model that can be replicated across Nigeria.
He recalled that the vision had existed for several years but noted that the time had now come to implement it, beginning with Ogun State.
Adenuga argued that Nigerians have repeatedly heard campaign promises centred on healthcare, education, infrastructure and security without significant changes, insisting that his party offers a different approach.
“I accept to be the flag bearer of this party. For over 16 years, I have been working seriously to find solutions to the problems confronting our society. We have carefully developed our plans and agenda, and today, I thank God for giving me the opportunity to present them, starting from Ogun State.
“I did not come to condemn anybody. I came to fix exactly what our problems are. We have a practical and structured plan that will address the issues facing our people,” he stated.
“Our plan is for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but we are starting from Ogun State to set an example. Other states will begin to ask questions when they see the results,” he said.
“I don’t want to repeat what people have heard from other political parties. We continue to hear the same promises on healthcare, education, infrastructure and security.”
Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the party, Arch. Abiodun Akerele, pledged that the party would uphold transparency, accountability, obedience to the rule of law, and selfless service if elected into office, describing the principles as the foundation of the party’s ideology.
He said the party operates on the motto, “Fiduciary, Obedience and Service,” stressing that it is committed to the responsible management of public resources and strict adherence to constitutional provisions.
According to him, the party distinguishes itself from others by maintaining financial accountability and complying with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s requirement of submitting annual financial reports detailing its income and expenditure.
The party leader also stressed the importance of obedience to both the party’s constitution and the Nigerian Constitution, noting that discipline and progress can only be achieved when laws and regulations are respected.
“Our party gives a detailed account of every income and expenditure every year as required by INEC. Accountability is one of our core values, and when we are entrusted with public office, we will ensure that every resource given to us on behalf of the people is properly accounted for,” he said.
“Without obedience, there will be no discipline, no progress, and crime will thrive. In this party, our constitution is supreme, and every member is expected to obey the rules and regulations,” he stated.
On service, he said the Boot Party was established to serve the people rather than pursue personal interests, adding that elected officials under the party would prioritise the welfare of the citizens.
