Former Ogun Chief Of Staff, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, Bags Second PhD At Babcock University

The immediate past Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Dr. Emmanuel Oluwatoyin Taiwo, has added another remarkable academic milestone to his profile, earning a second doctoral degree at the 2026 Doctoral Hooding and Convocation Ceremony of Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State.

Dr. Taiwo, an accomplished administrator and the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, was among the 183 PhD graduates formally hooded during the colourful convocation ceremony. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, adding to his earlier doctoral qualification in Organizational Management obtained from the Republic of Benin.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, commended Babcock University for consistently demonstrating that education remains the bedrock of intellectual excellence. He noted that the institution has continued to blend academic excellence with moral responsibility, describing the combination as essential for national development.

According to the governor, competence without good character could become dangerous to humanity, emphasizing that “the true measure of education lies not in what graduates know, but in how they apply that knowledge for the benefit of humanity.”

Governor Abiodun also highlighted his administration’s commitment to repositioning education in Ogun State through the Ogun REHAB Initiative, which has transformed public school infrastructure and created more conducive learning environments across the state.

He added that the state’s Ogun-Teach Scheme has led to the employment of over 6,000 teachers, reinforcing his administration’s determination to improve the quality of education at all levels.

Earlier in his address, the President and Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Olatunde Oyewole, said the institution has continued to make significant contributions to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria through human capital development and infrastructural support.

Prof. Oyewole reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates equipped with the knowledge, character, skills, and discipline required to provide solutions to societal challenges and serve humanity.

He disclosed that the university celebrated 183 PhD graduates alongside more than 2,000 postgraduate students who had successfully completed various academic programmes.

Speaking shortly after the ceremony, Dr. Taiwo expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for granting him the grace and strength to successfully complete the rigorous doctoral programme. He also appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his unwavering encouragement, mentorship, and support throughout his academic journey.

The latest academic feat further reinforces Dr. Taiwo’s reputation as a public servant committed to continuous learning, intellectual development, and excellence in leadership, adding another distinguished chapter to his record of public service and academic accomplishment.
