A prominent socio-cultural group, Alaketu Illustrious Descendants (A.I.D), has distanced itself from individuals and groups endorsing political aspirants ahead of the upcoming primary elections in Ogun State.
In a strongly-worded statement, A.I.D described these individuals as “sponsored group” and warned the people of Ogun State, particularly those of Yewa and Ketu extractions, to disregard their statements.
“Their statements are not worth believing because they were issued to disorganize the public direction,” A.I.D said. “They’re all sponsored by their masters. They’re speaking to deliver the services they’ve been paid for and not based on objectives.”
A.I.D. pointed out that some individuals are anti-democratic in nature representing their own interests rather than the interests of their communities.
“We urge the public to wait patiently for the emergence of the parties’ candidates, which will be announced after the conduct of the primary elections by the various political parties,” A.I.D said.
The group further assured the people that candidates would emerge through a constitutionally recognized process rather than through the endorsement of self-appointed groups.
“A.I.D. is committed to promoting unity, peace, development, democratic principles, and also protect Ketu Kingdom’s interest,” the statement read. “We will not be swayed by divisive rhetoric or personal interests.”
The statement was signed by the leadership of A.I.D, who urged everyone to remain vigilant and focused on the democratic process.
The move by AID is seen as a significant development in the lead-up to the primary elections and is likely to shape the narrative in Ogun State politics.
