A political support group backing the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has inaugurated 400 canvassers to commence door-to-door mobilisation and sensitisation across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, Zee 1 for YAYI, said the newly inaugurated canvassers would take the message of YAYI and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to homes, communities and rural areas as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots support ahead of the polls.
Speaking at the inauguration in Abeokuta on Sunday, founder of the group, Ambassador Ayomikun Azeez Ibrahim, charged the canvassers to intensify their engagement with residents, saying victory in the 2027 elections would require sustained grassroots mobilisation beyond political rallies and public declarations of support.

He said, “The election coming up in 2027, everywhere you see APC, from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator YAYI and all other APC candidates, we must come together and give our full support .”
According to him, the people of Ogun State have been witnessing the contributions and activities of Senator YAYI even before he emerged as the party’s governorship candidate, stressing that members of the support group must take the message to the grassroots through door-to-door canvassing.
“We have been seeing what Senator YAYI has been doing even before he was given the party ticket. Let us come together and give our full support for YAYI by canvassing from door to door about YAYI and other APC candidates. We must also take the message to rural communities,” he said.
Ibrahim also charged members and supporters of the APC to ensure that eligible voters who had yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) do so before the election, noting that political support could only translate into votes through the ballot.

He said, “It is not by singing alone. We can only make use of our PVC to cast our vote. So, let us ensure that those who have not collected their PVCs do so.” He urged the newly inaugurated canvassers to also sensitise residents on the importance of participating actively in the electoral process.
The former LCDA Chairman, Oba, and Senior Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, Hon. Asaluola Abiola, called on members of Zee 1 for YAYI to work collectively towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
He urged coordinators across the local governments to ensure effective coordination and carry all members along in their mobilisation efforts.
“I want to urge all the coordinators in each local government to make sure they carry their members along. We all have to work to ensure APC victory ahead of the 2027 elections. Our collective effort at the grassroots is very important,” Abiola said.
Also speaking, the Chairman and Consultant of the Commercial Motorcycle Riders Identification Scheme (COMORIS), Engineer Juwon Adebanjo, emphasised the importance of PVC collection and continuous voter sensitisation.
He said the group would continue to educate its members and supporters on the need to obtain their voter cards and participate in the election.
“What is most important is our PVCs. We will continue to sensitise ourselves and encourage eligible voters to ensure they collect their PVCs so that they can exercise their civic responsibility,” Adebanjo said.
In his remarks, Mr Owolabi Otubu, a member of Zee 1 for YAYI from Odogbolu, pledged to support the group’s grassroots mobilisation drive, saying the canvassers would take the campaign message to communities and engage residents on the need to support YAYI and other APC candidates.
Similarly, one of the women leaders in Abeokuta North, Mrs Kehinde Kazeem, urged women and other grassroots stakeholders to actively participate in the mobilisation exercise, stressing the need for women to take the campaign message to their families, communities and various social networks.
A leader in the Zee 1 for YAYI support group, Mr Ayo Popoola, also encouraged the newly inaugurated canvassers to remain committed to the assignment and ensure that their activities go beyond political meetings to direct engagement with voters at the grassroots.
