
Barely one month after the industrial chemical odour incident occurred in our Lady of Apostles girls school in ijebu ode, another chemical odour has affected more than 90 students from different schools in the city .
Many parents and guardians were seen running healthier sketchier to pick their wards as chemical odour spread across some schools in the ancient town.
More than thousands of students from different schools were rescued by the first respondance to the state hospital in ijebu ode .
One of the medic on the ground noted that the students were complaining of abdominal pain .

Some of the affected schools are our Lady of Apostles, Epe Garage ijebu Ode, Anglican girs grammar school, obalende Ijebu ode, ijebu – ode grammar school , Sambadola private school and Adeola odutola secondary as well as st. Anthony Esure in ijebu mushin .
Recal that the incident happened barely a month ago where several students were injured as a result of chemical odour.
Eyewithess stated that some of the sub villages and other streets in and around the state were affected by this development.
Meanwhile, the commissiner of Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who came in around 11: 16 a.m., urged the parents to be calm and allow the medical personnel to do their job.
He stated that the environmental officials of both the federal agencies and state environmental agencies have been called for prompt actions .
Speaking on the development, General Manager, Ogun state evironmental protection Agency, Hon. Kehinde Bello disclosed that the Ogun State government wishes to inform the public that the Air Quality Monitoring Device installed at Ijebu Ode Grammar School has recorded elevated methane (CH₄) concentrations within its monitoring coverage area in Ijebu Ode, with peak readings of approximately 13,500 ppm in surrounding locations.
Bello stated that deployment of the Air Quality Minitoring device at Ijebu Ode Grammar School forms part of the State’s continuous environmental surveillance programme designed to provide early detection of abnormal air quality conditions and support timely public health interventions.
He noted that while the recorded methane concentration is below the lower explosive limit, the level is considered environmentally significant and requires immediate technical investigation and precautionary response.
He added that the State Government will activate a multi-agency environmental and public health assessment team comprising environmental regulators, emergency response services, and technical air quality
He urged the residents to remain calm and continue normal activities while avoiding open flames or ignition sources in areas where unusual gas odours are detected.
“Any symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, nausea, or respiratory discomfort should be promptly reported to nearby health facilities.”

Hon. Kehide Bello also visited affected schools in order to ascertain what went wrong .
As at the time of filling the reports, the government officials from the which includes, Hon commissioner for education , prof. Abayomi Arigbabu and the general manager of ogun state environmental protection Agency (OGEPA) were able to calm the situation .
