The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, joins millions of admirers around the world in celebrating the 85th birthday of a nationalist, veteran journalist, political icon and former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, and the Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, Chief Osoba’s legacy as a Nigerian journalist and politician is unparalleled, as his rural developmental strides across the 236 wards of Ogun State laid the foundation for the socio-economic growth the State enjoys today.
The Council described him as a quintessential human being, an astute democrat, accomplished journalist, and a descent and respected politician who has written his name in gold in the history of Nigeria.
His contributions to journalism and politics are still being celebrated, and his signature is evident in the only hall donated by him at the NUJ Secretariat, where journalists in Ogun State converge meetings and monthly congresses.
To celebrate Chief Osoba’s legacy, the Council has set up a committee to organize an annual colloquium in his name, where people can reminisce on his achievements and nurture future giants in journalism.
The Council wishes Chief Osoba many more years on earth, as he remains a role model in the media world and a political icon in Ogun State and Nigeria.
