Traditional rulers in Itori and Lapeleke, Ogun State, have commended the Yayi Worldwide Support Initiative (YWSI) for distributing school bags and learning materials to pupils in two primary schools.
The outreach took place on Friday, October 23, 2026, at All Saints Anglican Primary School, Itori, and St. Paul First African Church Mission Primary School, Lapeleke, both in Ewekoro Local Government Area.
The pupils received school bags, exercise books, pencils and biros. Some reportedly lacked proper school bags and had been carrying their books in polythene bags.

The initiative began with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olu of Itori, Oba Abdul Fatai Akorede Akamo-Ekun, who received a life-size customised cardboard standee in recognition of his contributions to community development.
YWSI’s Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Adekunle Adejumo, popularly known as Westo, said the intervention was motivated by a desire to support vulnerable people, particularly children.
The group’s secretary, Mrs I. J. Imisioluwa, said the distribution was an expression of compassion and commitment to children’s welfare, although it might not meet every beneficiary’s needs.

Oba Akorede Akamo-Ekun expressed hope that the initiative would extend similar support to other schools, while High Chief Tajudeen Oladeinde and Chief Wale Bankole, the Adagunja of Itori Egbaland, commended the group’s community interventions.
At the Lapeleke school, the Olu of Lapeleke, Oba Thomas Adebayo Odekunle, welcomed the delegation and urged traditional rulers to support political leaders committed to community welfare and development.
YWSI President Tosin Thompson, popularly known as Kings-Autos and based in California, United States, thanked the monarchs, residents, members and diaspora partners for supporting the exercise.
YWSI is associated with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 Ogun election.
The group says its activities include educational support, medical outreach and other community interventions.
It previously reported providing financial assistance to patients at General Hospital, Ilaro, and General Hospital, Abeokuta.
The latest exercise brought together group members, volunteers, community representatives, APC youth representatives and Nollywood actress Seyi Edun.
