The people of Ita Egbe Kingdom, Ipokia Local Government area of Ogun state are set to witness a historic moment on August 20, 2026, as His Royal Majesty, King Saanu Adenle Ojo, Onita Egbe of Ita Egbe Kingdom, Oregi I, Ajagungbade Gbàdewólú Akókó, is formally crowned as the first king of the kingdom.
The coronation ceremony is expected to be a landmark event for the people of Ita Egbe, who have expressed joy and pride over the emergence of their first traditional ruler.
In a congratulatory message announcing the ceremony, Prince Adenle Paul Olawale, son of the monarch, described his father as a good family man, a leader per excellence and a worthy traditional ruler whose antecedents have demonstrated his capacity to lead the people of Ita Egbe.
According to him, the emergence of his father as the first King of Ita Egbe marks a significant chapter in the history of the kingdom and offers an opportunity for the people to unite behind a monarch capable of advancing the interests of the community.
Prince Adenle said the entire Ita Egbe community was delighted by the historic development, noting that the coronation would provide an avenue for the people to celebrate their heritage, unity and the beginning of a new era under the traditional institution.
He congratulated the monarch and his family, praying that God Almighty would grant King Saanu Adenle Ojo wisdom, strength, good health and long life to enable him have a successful reign.
He further prayed that the reign of the Onita Egbe would usher in peace, unity, development and prosperity across Ita Egbe Kingdom.
The coronation, scheduled for August 20, is therefore expected to attract members of the royal family, traditional institutions, community leaders, dignitaries and residents of Ita Egbe, as the kingdom celebrates what has been described as a record-breaking milestone in its history.
Prince Adenle called on the people of Ita Egbe to join in celebrating the historic occasion and wished the monarch a peaceful and prosperous reign.
“Long live His Royal Majesty, King Saanu Adenle Ojo; long live Ita Egbe Kingdom,” he declared.
