…reiterates zero tolerance for land grabbing

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Elemide Oludaisi has promised to treat the petitions of the disgruntled communities of Obafemi Owode Local Government over alleged land grabbing issue.
The communities of Agboro and Latunde in an earlier report had accused the Olu of Obafe, Taofeek Owolabi of forcefully taking over their lands worth 500 hectares.
Honourable Chief Adeoye Olaseni, a stakeholder in the Latunde community detailed the speaker and other member of the Assembly on the reason for the protest.
Amongst the lamentations of the communities, according to Hon. Adeola, include “offering N200,000 per hectare of land to the communities, violence, clearing of the farm crops which include kolanut, cocoa, cashew, mango, palm trees, plantain, cassava, maize, and other food crops like vegetables, tomatoes, and pepper planted on them.”
They also alleged that the monarch had blocked the source of water in the community leaving them with an unhealthy lake to source water from.

Addressing the protesters, Hon. Elemide gave the protesters his words on the abolition of land grabbing issues at the State House of Assembly on Tuesday.
He emphasized that the state has zero tolerance for land grabbing, reiterating Governor Dapo Abiodun’s recent warnings to monarchs in the state concerning sales of land.
The speaker therefore assured the communities that their petitions will be treated to resolve the land dispute.
“We have passed a law on anti grabbing bad anti-cultism. You have brought your petition and we will treat it accordingly. Recently, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun reeled out warnings to the monarchs at the Obas Council that his government will not tolerate land grabbing.
“This government has zero tolerance for land grabbing. So, we are going to invite all stakeholders concerned on the matter and we will come back with our reports.” Elemide assured.
