…Beneficiaries hail initiative, pledge support for Senator Solomon Adeola’s 2027 governorship ambition.

No fewer than 700 residents of Yewa Zone in Ogun State have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the New Dawn Healthcare Professionals Initiative for Yayi, a support group comprising healthcare professionals from both the public and private sectors across the state.

The one-day medical outreach, held in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, was aimed at providing free healthcare services to indigent residents who are unable to access medical facilities due to financial constraints.

Speaking during the exercise, the Convener of the initiative, Princess Oluwayemisi Adedayo Adelaja, said the outreach was organised in support of the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, while also giving back to society through quality healthcare services.

She explained that the group chose to commence the humanitarian intervention in Ilaro, the senator’s hometown, stressing that charity begins at home.

According to her, the outreach catered for men and women between the ages of 10 and 80 years, with beneficiaries receiving a wide range of free medical services, including blood pressure checks, malaria tests, blood sugar tests (FBS/RBS), Hepatitis B screening (HBsAg), retroviral screening (RVS), dental care, health education, medical consultations and free medications.

She added that free eye examinations were conducted, with prescription eyeglasses distributed to elderly beneficiaries and others with visual impairments, while patients requiring further medical attention were referred to the State Hospital with referral notes indicating their health conditions.

Princess Adelaja noted that the New Dawn Healthcare Professionals Initiative for Yayi was established to mobilise support for Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition in the 2027 Ogun State election, describing the initiative as a non-political platform of healthcare professionals committed to complementing the senator’s people-oriented programmes.

“Most of our members are not politicians, but we believe in Senator Yayi’s vision for Ogun State.

Through this outreach, we are contributing our quota by improving the health of our people while supporting his aspiration for a better Ogun,” she said.

She further explained that the decision to organise the outreach was informed by the increasing number of people who remain at home without access to healthcare because of financial hardship.

“Our desire is to bring healthcare closer to the people, especially the less privileged, and ensure they receive timely medical attention regardless of their economic status,” she added.

Many of the beneficiaries, who expressed appreciation for the free medical services, described the initiative as timely and impactful.

They also pledged their support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s governorship ambition and offered prayers for the success of his 2027 bid.
