
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) sensitised 128 Youths who have been selected for training on Solar Energy Training Scheme(SETS), Graduate Coaching Scheme (GCS), Environmental beautification training Scheme(EBTS), Graduate Attachment Program (GAP) and Artisans In Collaborative Construction Employment Scheme (ACCES).
The orientation was to equip the participants with the necessary information for a successful three month training in the state.

The training schemes of the Special Public Works Department of NDE are being carried out under the second phase of Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI).
The Director-General of the NDE, H.E Silas Ali Agara, while speaking during the ceremony in Abeokuta urged youths in the State to embrace government’s skill acquisition programmes to tackle unemployment and become self-reliant.
Agara restated the commitment of President Bola Tinubu under its Renewed Hope Agenda, to ensuring economic growth, job creation and poverty reduction for youths and citizens across the state and country.
He said skills acquisition remained a potent tool to empowering youths and tackling unemployment hence the investment by the Federal Government in that regard to tackle unemployment and ensure better living standards for youths.
The Director General of NDE ably represented by the Ogun State State Coordinator Mr. Ilori Olakunle urged participants to make the best use of this opportunity to better their lives, communities and the nation at large.

According to the State Coordinator, “this initiative is not just a formal launch but a symbol of hope, progress and belief in our great nation Nigeria and its ever vibrant youths. The fight against unemployment bedeviling our economy is the collective responsibility of all Nigerian Citizens and as such all hands must be on deck. It is said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step, ladies and gentlemen participants here present you are taking that very step today in the right direction. I totally believe that from this training we would have captains of industries, manufacturers and Employers of labour. So, as we flag-off this program today, we do so with a strong conviction that together we can achieve the goals we have set and even surpass them”.
He also urged those undergoing trainings learn the necessary skills in line with the essence of the initiative to ensure they become better after the training.
“The NDE stimulates the interest in the youths (school leavers, graduates of tertiary institutions) to identify business opportunities in alternative energy sector such as solar Energy.
“And also beautifies our environment and homes through the learning of POP, soft landscaping (horticulture)and hard landscaping (tiling)”

In his welcome address, the HOD of SPW department Mr. Adeyemi Ariyo stated that under the Solar Energy Training Scheme(SETS) 32 participants were selected, Graduate Coaching Scheme (GCS)18, Environmental beautification training Scheme(EBTS)32, Graduate Attachment Program (GAP) 28 and Artisans In Collaborative Construction Employment Scheme (ACCES) 18 and the training duration
is 3 months.
The Director SPW department Mrs. Folasade Lanre-Ogun, represented by Mr. Tosin Makinde in his speech appeals to the participants to make good use of the training and that the serious ones among them will be empowered based on seriousness during the training.
Mr. Sodiq, a participant spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the effort of the Federal Government towards reducing unemployment and creating wealth.
He pledged to use the skill that would be acquired to contribute to the development of Nigeria.
