.. unveils new state executive, urges greater youth participation in governance

The Federation of Indigenous and Community Youth Organizations (FICYO) has called for increased youth participation in governance, community development and nation-building as it unveiled its newly constituted Ogun State executive during a management meeting and press conference in Abeokuta.

The event brought together indigenous youths, community leaders and stakeholders from across the state to deliberate on issues bordering on inclusive governance, political participation, good governance and grassroots development.
Speaking at the gathering, the Founder and National President of FICYO, Ambassador Akanni Michael, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting accountable leadership, peace, unity, sustainable development and active youth involvement in governance.

He urged indigenous youths across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State to move beyond being passive observers and actively engage in civic responsibilities, community development initiatives and the democratic process.

According to him, meaningful collaboration between organised youth groups and government remains essential for promoting transparency, grassroots development, security, economic empowerment and sustainable progress.

The meeting also featured the formal presentation of the newly constituted Ogun State leadership, headed by Chief (Hon.) Matthew Adeyinka Taiwo Ajegbemi, popularly known as Mata Yayi, to the FICYO National President.

In his remarks, the Ogun State Chairman, Chief Ajegbemi, said leadership should be defined by service, accessibility, responsiveness and measurable impact on the lives of the people.

He cited Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as a model of purposeful representation and people-oriented leadership, stressing the need for leaders to prioritise the welfare of their constituents in driving sustainable development.

Also speaking, the Convener and National Delegate of FICYO in Ogun State, Prince (Hon.) Taiwo Olusegun, called for greater unity among indigenous youths and urged members to expand the organisation’s presence across the 20 local government areas of the state.

The event also witnessed the presentation and pre-induction of the newly constituted Ogun State executive members, who are expected to commence their responsibilities immediately.

Participants at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening community development through indigenous unity, youth inclusion, economic empowerment, transformational leadership and responsible political participation.
