The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Yewa South State Constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Rotimi Ogundele, has described the return of former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo to the party as a major boost to its electoral fortunes in Ogun State.
Ogundele, popularly known as “Divine Solution,” also commended the emergence of Dr. Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo as the deputy governorship candidate of the party, describing her nomination as a strategic move that would further strengthen the PDP ahead of the polls.
In a statement issued by his media team, the Yewa South lawmaker hopeful likened Senator Obasanjo’s return to the acquisition of “a big fish,” noting that the combination of the governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, his running mate, Dr. Sowunmi-Kolapo, and Senator Obasanjo as Senatorial candidate for Ogun Central, with other notable candidates gives the PDP a clear edge over other political parties.
According to him, “With the calibre of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu as governor, Dr. Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo as deputy governor, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo as Senatorial Candidate for Ogun Central and other notable candidates in the fold, the PDP is coasting to victory in 2027 considering the quality of candidates we have across the state.”
He said the large turnout that greeted the unveiling of the deputy governorship candidate and the reception accorded Senator Obasanjo were indications that Ogun residents were eager to return the PDP to power.
“The crowd that received Senator Iyabo Obasanjo and those present during the unveiling of our deputy governorship candidate are testaments to the fact that Ogun people cannot wait to have the PDP back in government in 2027,” he stated.
Ogundele described the PDP as “a party to reckon with” and one that enjoys widespread acceptance among the people of the state.
He assured the people of Yewa South of quality and effective representation if elected into the Ogun State House of Assembly, pledging to pursue policies and programmes that would impact positively on the constituency and the State in general.
The PDP candidate also urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them exercise their constitutional rights during the election.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and commended Adebutu for what he described as his progressive and transformational leadership style, expressing confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the 2027 polls.
