Over 100 widows have benefitted from the philanthropic gesture of Show Kindness and Empathy Seriously to all Development Initiative (Shokesta) In partnership with Zenith Carex Express.

While distributing food items to each of the widows in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, Founder of the Initiative, Amb. Oluwakemi Soyebi said the initiative was aimed to support widows and the less privileged women in her community during Christmas, a time of exchanging gifts as it also coincides with her birthday which she celebrates yearly with the less privileged.

Amb. Oluwakemi Soyebi added that the humanitarian gesture was part of her foundation’s vision to reach out to the less privileged in order to enhance their standard of living.

“As a woman, I am just doing what I believe is my duty as a human. These widows deserve our love, care, and support. I’m grateful to be in a position to make a difference in their lives,” she said.

The philanthropist urged well-spirited individuals, NGOs, and corporate organisations to emulate Christ’s love for mankind by reaching out to the less privileged in society.

While admonishing the windows to always put their faith in God and pray for a better Nigeria, she called on government at all levels to pay attention to the welfare and development of girls and women, saying, “when one woman is empowered, the whole community is empowered.”

The beneficiaries while appreciating SHOKESTA said the foundation’s kindness has been a lifeline to them as widows in the area, adding that, “majority of us are struggling and unsure of how to celebrate this yuletide, but SHOKESTA’s generosity has given us hope.”

The items distributed included: bags of semovita, rice, garri, noodles, and seasonings, among others

It is on record that SHOKESTA has touched the lives of over 4,000 women, children, and youth across Nigeria with the organization’s focus on entrepreneurship, creativity, and leadership that has empowered individuals to overcome social challenges and break the cycle of poverty.
