Ahead of the maiden Ogun State Progressives New Media Summit, organisers have intensified consultations with key stakeholders to mobilise support for the event aimed at strengthening responsible digital engagement and promoting effective communication of government policies.
The Convener of the summit and Special Assistant on New Media to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), Omooba Damilare Oloyede, has called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), media aides, digital communicators and social media influencers to participate actively in the programme scheduled for Thursday, August 6, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The summit, with the theme, “Defending the Truth, Advancing Renewed Hope, and Shaping the Future of Progress for Ogun State with Senator YAYI,” is expected to attract social media influencers, digital content creators, communication strategists, media professionals and progressive advocates from across Ogun State.
As part of preparations, Oloyede met with the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Digital Communication, Mr. Emmanuel Ojo, and the Ogun State APC Publicity Secretary, Comrade Femi Nuberu, seeking their support in mobilising members of the progressive family and digital communicators for the event.
Speaking on the objectives of the summit, Oloyede described it as a strategic platform designed to equip participants with contemporary digital communication skills, combat misinformation, encourage fact-based public discourse and promote the achievements of APC-led administrations at both the federal and state levels.
He said the growing influence of digital media in shaping public opinion underscores the need for progressive communicators to remain informed, coordinated and professionally equipped to project government policies, programmes and achievements effectively.
According to him, the summit will also provide participants with opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and capacity building to enhance ethical and development-driven digital communication.
The event will feature presentations by the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Kunle Salako; Ogun State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi; former Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, Hon. Adebayo Adekoya (SAN); Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Relations, Hon. Ifekayode Akinbode; and communication strategist, Olotu Bolaji Adeniji.
The interactive session will be moderated by the Baamofin of Ipokia Kingdom, Chief Jibola Lawal Orisadare, Esq.
Oloyede expressed confidence that the quality of resource persons assembled for the summit reflects the organisers’ determination to deliver a high-impact programme capable of repositioning Ogun State’s progressive digital ecosystem for greater effectiveness.
He urged invited participants, online publishers, media aides, content creators, social media influencers and members of the APC to take advantage of the learning and networking opportunities offered by the summit.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prince Adedapo David Oluwadamilare, expressed optimism that the summit would serve as a catalyst for building a vibrant, ethical and development-oriented digital media community in Ogun State while supporting the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
