TUC Chairman urges Gov.Abiodun to Reward Oxford Varsity Best Student Engineering

Trade Union Congress (TUC) has appealed to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to recognize and reward Engineer Olumayowa Idowu who emerged as the best Graduating Student In Engineering from the prestigious Oxford University in the United Kingdom

The State Chairman of TUC, Comrade Akeem Lasisi who made the call during the celebration of 2023 Workers’ Day at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto, Abeokuta, also pleaded with Governor Dapo Abiodun to redeem the promises made to awardees of the 2022 World Teachers by the State Government

Engineer Olumayowa Idowu according to Lasisi, “emerged as the BEST-GRADUATING student out of the 50 selected Best Civil Servants in the Nigerian Public Service at the World Class Leadership Programme of Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, an initiative of AIG Imoukhuede Institute after a very rigorous and multi-staged screening exercise”

“Your Excellency, as it is the established practice of your good self in rewarding indigenes of the State who made the State proud in their fields of endeavour, we plead that an indigene of Ogun State, Engineer Olumayowa Idowu be awarded”, TUC pleaded with the governor.

Also the TUC Chairman listed those awardees of the 2022 World Teachers Day still expecting government’s promises to include, Paul Adelana (Best Teacher Junior School category ), Mr Tajudeen Odufeso, (Overall Best teacher ), Mr Bosun Fagbamila(Best School Administrator ), Mr Olusesan Orebanjo, (Best Teacher, Public Primary School) St Michael African Church Primary School 1, the Best Public Primary School in Ogun State and Nigeria as well as Mr Tajudeen Ayantola, Best teacher, Private Senior Secondary School and Mr Olopade Falore (Best teacher, Junior Private Schools Category.)

Appreciating the awardees, he stated would encourage other indigenes to work harder and make the state proud

“This will serve as an encouragement to those still in active service of our dear State and country at large to strive even harder in their respective assignments”, Lasisi stated

TUC also called on the government to engage teachers under Ogun Teach Scheme, permanently after the expiration of their stay

“We appeal to you to also permanent Ogun TEACh applicants at the end of their service years”

Responding to the issue of reward for the awardees of teachers day, the governor said approval had been given to redeem government’s reward for them
