As part of the efforts to produce capable individuals who could Steer up the Nigeria’s economy through Entrepreneurship, no fewer than 300 Staff and Students from the Gateway ICT Polytechnic Saapade have become certified Master of Business in the Street, MBS.
Master of Business in the street is an entrepreneurship programme organized by a non-governmental organization, Interweave Solution International, to see to the elevation of individuals from poverty to prosperity.
According to the founder, Denis Curtis, interweave is aimed at helping people become self-sufficient by setting up micro business to improve homes and communities.
The training had about 30 members of staff championed by the Rector, Sanni Kehinde Oseni as facilitator and 270 students across all departments as beneficiaries of the programme.
At the graduation ceremony held to celebrate the participants, the President of Interweave, Jonathan
Reid appreciated various stakeholders, especially the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun as he maintained that the MBS Graduates are proficient enough and ready for the labour market with an enabling and competitive skills
“The graduates were trained on entrepreneurial skills such as Shoe/Bag Leather work, fashion design, liquid and bar soap making, cosmetics, insecticide, electrical work, block making and welding.”
He further urged them to be hopeful as the future is bright in an highly competitive market.
Lending his voice on the impact of the MBS programme, the Rector urged the MBS graduate to continue to learn noting that all hands must be on deck to end hunger and contribute to the growth and development of the Nigeria economy.
Oseni further urged the Participants to make good use of the skills and knowledge garnered during the training to make positive impact in the world stressing that the worlds and realities are changing in an unparalleled and challenging circumstance.
“At the moment, our word and realities are changing in unparalleled ways with challenging circumstances. You have been equipped with the skill and knowledge to make positive impact in the world”
He said “education is never outdated. The ultimate aspect of any training is that everyone learns how to reflect abstractly and turn theories into practice and when the theory on longer fit with the realities that you experienced, go back and improve those theories. This means that leaning continues”.
Oseni further noted that as ” humans, one must learn how to develop new skill, teach adaptation and demonstrate the difference between the obsolete and innovative ways of doing things “.
The MBS programme was implemented in Nigeria by Country’s Regional Director and Ogun State Director, Ambassador Omotayo slSandra and Damisola Adewunmi, respectively.
In their remarks, they maintained that Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade is the first tertiary institution to have benefited from Interweave Solution vis-a- vis MBS training in Nigeria.
They added that the MBS graduates have successfully become ambassadors of Interweave Solution International.
