
The President of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), Engr Felix Adegboye, FNIEEE, has called for stronger collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Nigeria (CIEEEN) to deepen professional standards and advance the engineering profession in Nigeria.
This was the highlight of a courtesy visit by the NIEEE President to the President of CIEEEN, Engr Kings Adeyemi, FNIEEE, in Abuja on Thursday, 22 January 2025. The visit was aimed at reinforcing the longstanding relationship between the two institutions and expanding areas of collaboration in support of national development.
In his remarks, Engr. Adegboye underscored the importance of strategic cooperation between NIEEE and CIEEEN, noting that closer alignment would strengthen professional practice and institutional effectiveness. He presented key proposals, including enhanced institutional collaboration, harmonisation of examination processes, clearer membership pathways, and ensuring that committee appointments are drawn from active and financially up-to-date NIEEE members.
Responding, Engr. Adeyemi congratulated Engr. Adegboye on his election as the 22nd President of NIEEE and wished him a successful tenure. He emphasized the strategic role of professional institutions such as NIEEE in effective regulation and professional development, affirming CIEEEN’s readiness to support the proposed collaboration.
The CIEEEN President pledged full cooperation, particularly in advocacy, technical advisory roles, industry engagement, international cooperation, and public enlightenment. He further assured that CIEEEN would provide periodic feedback on the performance and contributions of NIEEE members serving on its Council.

The meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening the partnership between NIEEE and CIEEEN, with both institutions expressing commitment to joint initiatives in policy formulation, technical advancement, and industry engagement—efforts expected to enhance professional standards and reinforce Nigeria’s leadership in engineering education, policy, and practice across Africa.
