The Civil Defence College of Security Management, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, was filled with pomp and gratitude on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, *_as the pioneer Provost, Assistant Commandant General Iskil Ayinla Makinde, FCNA,_* was formally pulled out of service on attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The colourful ceremony drew dignitaries from across Nigeria to honour an officer widely celebrated as _“The Boss Who Refuses to Be Bossy”_ — a leader admired for calmness, discipline, and service-driven leadership in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
ACG Makinde’s career spanned decades of meritorious service. He served as State Commandant in *Kebbi, Edo, Lagos, and Kwara States*, where he was credited with strengthening community relations, improving operational efficiency, and mentoring a new generation of officers.
His record in intelligence-driven operations earned him a strategic posting to the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, as Assistant Commandant General in charge of Investigation. He later served as Zonal Commander, Zone 11 Headquarters, Akure, Ondo State, before his final assignment.
However, his most enduring legacy is in Ogun State. As the *Pioneer Provost of the Civil Defence College of Security Management, Abeokuta,* ACG Makinde was saddled with the task of building the institution from the ground up. Under his watch, the College moved from concept to a fully functional centre.
Today, the College stands as one of the most viable institutions for paramilitary training, discipline, and academic excellence in the country, producing officers equipped to meet modern security challenges.
The pulling-out ceremony attracted top dignitaries including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Olusegun Elemide; the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, represented by Capt. Abdulrasheed A. Raji; pioneer CG Dr. John Ade Abolurin; and Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Iskeel Saka.
Also in attendance were the Rector of MAPOLY, Arch. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso; the Grand Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Muhammed Sa’ad Alade Bamgbola; the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Land, Sheikh Talihat Yunus Olushina Ayilara*; and *ACG Akibo Olusola Michael, who represented the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, OFR, mni, alongside several State Commandants.
In goodwill messages, speakers eulogised ACG Makinde for his integrity and humility. Sheikh Ayilara described him as “dependable and selfless,” while Speaker Elemide commended his “doggedness and commitment to duty,” noting that he represented the Corps with diligence and honour.
In his farewell address, ACG Makinde expressed appreciation to the Commandant General, colleagues, family, and friends for their support. As Ayinla Iskil Makinde [A.I.M]bbows out, he leaves behind more than offices and files — he leaves an institution that is stronger because he built it, and officers who are better because he led them.
The ceremony marked the close of a remarkable chapter in public service and the beginning of a new phase for the 60-year-old retired ACG.
