OUR COMMITMENT TOWARDS SUPPORTING SECURITY AGENCIES REMAIN UNWAVERING – GOV. ABIODUN

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said his administration’s commitment towards supporting security agencies remains unwavering, as the task of maintaining law and order, as well as ensuring safety of lives and property is cumbersome.

Governor Abiodun made this known while receiving the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap and her entourage, who were on a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Governor, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, recalled that his administration had been supporting security agencies since its inception, promising not to renege, in order to meet their needs and demands.

According to him, “Today our state has been adjudged as one of the safest in our country, as a result of our support for security agencies in the state. As the Gateway State is a state that borders Lagos and some others states, there were a lot of travelling and this has attendant problems for security because of the various transit population we have in some of our various communities”.

He commended security agencies in the state for their hard work towards ensuring that Ogun remains safe, assuring them of continued support, so as to make their activities more flexible.

On land request for office expansion, training institution, Flag House and patrol vehicles, Governor Abiodun assured the first female Comptroller-General from the state would receive his support towards a successful tenure.

While commending NIS for efforts towards making the international passport more credible and making travelling easier for Nigerians, he also appreciated the team from the state command for its support for the Gateway International Airport, as well as the Idiroko land border, saying their efforts are well acknowledged.

He wished the Comptroller-General a successful tenure and prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom.

Earlier, Kemi Nandap, commended the state government for the even development across the state, particularly in infrastructural development and protection of lives and property in the state.

She said the team was on a border tour visit to the state, in order to review the activities of borders, especially, those under Zone A, which are Seme and Idiroko borders, saying for NIS to achieve its mandate, there must be thorough evaluation of their activities.

The Comptroller-General also noted that the tour revealed that a lot needed to be done, explaining that NIS under the Minister of Interior, Dr. Tunji Ojo, have been deploying technologies to manage borders, as well as organising capacity building programmes for officers.

“I want to thank the present administration in Ogun state for supporting us. Like I said, border management is a collective effort and I know e governor has been the best in terms of security infrastructure.

“So as a beneficiary of the security infrastructure, we are soliciting for patrol vehicles for smooth operations in the state, as well as assistance in the fight against smuggling of migrants which is common in South-West. In the space of a month, we have recorded 64 cases in different parts of the country”, she said.
