…Adebutu Unveils ‘Itura De’ Agenda,
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State on Wednesday formally flagged off its campaign for the 2027 general elections, with its governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, unveiling his “Itura De” agenda, while the party’s Yewa South State House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Rotimi Ogundele, assured constituents of effective and quality representation if elected.
The campaign flag-off, held at the Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta, attracted party leaders, candidates, supporters and other stakeholders, marking the commencement of the party’s statewide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Ogundele said he remained the right choice for the people of Yewa South, pledging to provide effective representation and ensure that the interests and aspirations of his constituents received adequate attention at the Ogun State House of Assembly.
Ogundele, while expressing support for Adebutu’s governorship ambition, urged the people of Yewa South to support the PDP candidates, saying his candidacy represented an opportunity for the people to elect a representative committed to their welfare and development.
The campaign also witnessed the formal unveiling of Adebutu’s policy blueprint, tagged “ITURA DE”, meaning “relief has come”, which he described as a roadmap for the socio-economic transformation and liberation of Ogun State.
Adebutu declared that the state had endured what he described as 15 years of hardship, poor governance and neglect, promising to reverse the trend if elected governor in 2027.
In his address titled “A Call to Liberation,” the former federal lawmaker attributed what he described as the state’s challenges since 2011 to maladministration and corruption, while contrasting the situation with the PDP administration between 2003 and 2011, which he said prioritised grassroots development, workers’ welfare and local government administration.
According to him, the proposed “Itura De” administration would focus on seven major areas: security and law and order; genuine local government financial autonomy and workers’ welfare; urban and regional development, physical planning and transportation; rural and border communities; agriculture, economic and industrial development; women, youth and sports development; and education, healthcare and other social services.
He said the agenda would also rest on five broad programmes covering strategic infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, economic resilience, functional communities, and accountability and transparency in governance.
A major component of the blueprint, Adebutu said, would be the restoration of financial autonomy to Ogun State’s 20 local government councils.
He promised to “liberate” the councils from what he described as financial bondage and return administrative powers and resources to the grassroots, arguing that genuinely autonomous local governments would create 20 additional centres of development across the state.
“This is not rocket science, as the Otunba Gbenga Daniel-led administration was able to practise this effectively,” he said.
On workers’ welfare, Adebutu promised immediate intervention in outstanding pensions and gratuities and pledged to overhaul the Contributory Pension Scheme.
Adebutu also identified agriculture and vocational training as key components of his economic programme, promising farmers access to zero-interest loans and interventions through the Bank of Industry at single-digit interest rates.
He further pledged to develop rural infrastructure to support agriculture and wealth creation, while promising to review what he described as “predatory” double taxation affecting traders, market women and small business owners.
“We shall restructure government and end the stifling of business creation with debilitating taxes that make investment difficult, with emphasis on ease of doing business,” he said.
On security, the PDP candidate promised to dismantle what he called the “architecture of fear”, with emphasis on protecting farms, highways and communities from criminal activities.
He also pledged to guarantee freedom of political association, assuring residents that their livelihoods would not be affected by their political affiliations.
“We truly believe prosperity thrives when institutions are protected, and citizens can go about their businesses without fear or favour,” he said.
Adebutu said the “Itura De” agenda was designed to reverse what he described as entrenched poverty and restore political and economic power to the people.
Meanwhile, Hon. Rotimi Ogundele has
unveiled his official website designed to bring his story, political journey, vision and commitment to public service closer to the people.
The digital platform is expected to provide information about Ogundele’s leadership philosophy, aspirations and programmes, while creating another avenue for interaction with constituents and supporters.

The PDP campaign is being prosecuted under the banner “Rotimi De! Irọrun De!”, as the party seeks to mobilise support across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
