…adopts proactive, intelligence-driven policing

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has announced a firm zero-tolerance policy against misconduct within the Nigeria Police Force, pledging to prioritise professionalism, discipline and public trust.
Ojajuni made this known during his maiden media briefing at the Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where he outlined his strategic vision for policing in the state.
The Commissioner, who recently assumed office following the promotion of his predecessor, disclosed that his administration would adopt proactive and intelligence-driven policing to safeguard lives and property across Ogun State. He stressed that security remains non-negotiable and called for enhanced collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, the media and residents.
He also pledged to improve officers’ welfare as part of efforts to boost morale, efficiency and service delivery within the Command.
Expressing appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, for the confidence reposed in him, Ojajuni reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct. He warned that indiscipline, human rights abuses and corruption would not be tolerated under his watch.
The Police Commissioner further charged officers to uphold professionalism and civility in their dealings with the public, while urging citizens to maintain lawful conduct and cooperate with security agencies.
Ojajuni also announced the strengthening of internal monitoring mechanisms, identifying the Complaint Response Unit as a key channel for reporting police misconduct. He added that the Gateway Shield App and Police Control Room would operate кругл the clock, while the X-Squad and Monitoring Unit have been fully deployed to ensure accountability, stressing that no erring officer would be spared.
“The Inspector-General of Police also made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for abuse of office, indiscipline, incivility towards members of the public, violations of human rights, and corruption. These directives are sacrosanct and I assure you that I will implement them fully and without compromise.
“Discipline remains the bedrock of the Nigeria Police Force. I will not condone indiscipline among officers and men under my command. Professionalism, respect for human dignity and strict adherence to the rule of law must define our conduct at all times.
“I enjoin all officers and men to treat members of the public with dignity, courtesy, and the utmost respect. We must remain professional in the discharge of our duties. Respect, as they say, is reciprocal.
“Therefore, I also urge members of the public to engage with the Police and other security agencies with civility and mutual respect. See us as partners and work hand in hand with us in our shared responsibility of maintaining law and order.
“Let me reiterate that the few bad eggs within our ranks will not be allowed to drag the good name of the Force into disrepute. I encourage both officers and members of the public to remain vigilant and report any wrongdoing through the appropriate channels.
“The peace and security of the people of Ogun State remain my paramount agenda. I assure you that I will be accessible, responsive and committed to proactive policing strategies that will guarantee safety across the State.
“My administration will also be inclusive. All stakeholders will be given a sense of belonging as we work collectively towards a safer Ogun State. We will deepen collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, the media and other security agencies.
“Fairness, justice and equity will guide all our actions. I therefore implore members of the public to continue to support the Police by providing credible and timely information that will assist us in effectively combating crime”, he said.
