
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested and arraigned nine persons for traffic violations and obstruction of public highways in Sango-Ota under its ongoing “Operation No Traffic Gridlock.”
The Command stated that the exercise was carried out in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, aimed at restoring order and addressing persistent traffic congestion in the area.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, mnipr, operatives of the Sango-Ota Division were strategically deployed to identified flashpoints notorious for traffic gridlock and road indiscipline.
During the operation, several vehicles and tricycles were intercepted for violating traffic regulations, while others found obstructing free flow of traffic were impounded in line with the Command’s zero-tolerance policy.
The suspects arrested include Rufus Kunle, Sanni Ogbewi, Aremu Oluwatunmise, Kayode Ariyo, Wisdom Akpan, Yinka Molaolu, Olushola Adebowale, Ikechukwu Ogah, and Nwuda Chukwuka. They have since been arraigned in court.
The Command said enforcement and monitoring will continue across the Sango-Ota corridor to apprehend other offenders undermining public safety and traffic order.
Reaffirming the Command’s position, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the operatives for their professionalism and reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for traffic obstruction and indiscipline.
He warned that anyone found culpable, regardless of status, would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
