Activities for the 2023 Ogun NUJ press week kick off on Sunday, 15th October 2023, with a Thanksgiving service at Victory Life Bible Church,Ajebo, beginning from 9am.
In a statement by the press week committee, the weeklong celebration will feature an awareness walk on Monday, October 16 by 7am , followed by an official opening ceremony, expected to be declared open by the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, same day by 11am.
Other activities include groundbreaking of the Union’s permanent site at leme on Tuesday 17th October at 9am, while Chapels’ variety day with indoor games holds the same day in the evening at Iwe Iroyin press center.
On Wednesday, 18th October, there will be a Health Talk and Free medical check-up in the morning between 8 to 11am , while Beauty pageant by representatives from all the chapels rounds off the day from 12 to 3pm.
Relaunch of press club Inter-school debate holds on Thursday 19th October at 9 am with a Novelty match holding at the MKO Abiola international stadium by 4 pm the same day.
The weeklong activity ends on Friday 20th with a visit to motherless homes in the morning , Jumat prayer by noon, and Adire Gala/Awards nite by 5pm.
Chairman of the Committee, Mrs Adeyinka Richard expressed gratitude to Gov Dapo Abiodun and other partners for their support.
She enjoined members to attend all the activities as the celebration promises to be exciting.
“The event will be exciting. Let us all attend as it will give us all the opportunity to relax, interact, and enjoy ourselves,” she added.
it would be recalled that the Press week in Ogun state Council of NUJ was last celebrated in 2017, and the current Executive led by Comrade Akinwale Olanrenwaju sees it as point of duties to revive the annual Celebration where Journalists all over the state come together to brainstorm, wine and dine.
