A Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has distanced himself from a radio report concerning an ongoing land dispute in Ogun State, stating that he did not grant any interview to the station mentioned.
The dispute, which involves a parcel of land in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, has attracted attention from various stakeholders, including business interests and local political figures.
In a telephone conversation, Adeyemo said the report attributed to him by Gravity 88.1FM was inaccurate, noting that he was neither contacted nor interviewed by the station prior to the broadcast.
“I did not grant any interview to the station. I am only speaking to clarify my position after reviewing documents presented to me,” he said.
Adeyemo explained that his involvement in the matter was limited to reviewing documents submitted by parties in the dispute and that he holds no personal interest in the land.
He further stated that, based on the documents he examined, he advised one of the claimants, Adekunle Ajayi Lateef, to seek proper legal resolution of the matter.
He added that all parties should allow due process to determine ownership.
On the other hand, the Chief Executive Officer of Young Shall Grow Homes and Properties Limited, Ajibola Johnson, has petitioned the Ogun State House of Assembly over the dispute, alleging interference and intimidation.
Johnson also disclosed plans to escalate the matter to the Office of the Attorney General, seeking official intervention and resolution through legal channels.
Efforts to reach the councillor for comments were not immediately successful as of the time of filing this report.
The dispute remains unresolved, with stakeholders urging all parties to rely on lawful mechanisms to determine ownership and avoid actions that could heighten tensions.
