The Ogun state Branch of Judiciary workers under the aegis of Judiciary workers Union of Nigeria JUSUN has issued notice of a 5 days warning strike directing its workers to down tools to press home their demand for the payment of 40 percent Peculiar Allowance by the Ogun state government to Judiciary workers.

The Strike according to the notice signed by the state Assistant Secretary of JUSUN, Comrade Adeyemo Adekanbi John entitled “Non-Payment of Forty Percent (40%) Peculiar Allowance To The State Judiciary Workers,
Notice Of Five (5) Days Warning Strike” indicated that the strike will commence on Monday 26th February till Friday first of march,2024.

He Hinted that the Union has made several attempts to negotiate with the state government which the government failed to give necessary attention while the union had also adopted several means of engagement but yielded no results.

Judiciary workers in the state were therefore directed not to come to work from next week Monday till Friday while seeking their cooperation towards ensuring the payment of the Peculiar Allowance.

It would be recalled that the Ogun state JUSUN had earlier issued a 21 day ultimatum to the State government to comply failure which willl be followed by a five day warning strike.

The Strike Notice Reads: “

We wish to dutifully refer to the Communiqué issued at end of the Congress of Ogun State Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUNI, held at High Court/Customary Court of Appeal Premises, babio, Abeokuta. Ogun State on Saturday, 3rd February, 2024 where 21 days ultimatum was issued to the State Government to commence the payment of the forty percent (40%) peculiar allowance to the State Judiciary workers.

Sequence to the above, we want to formally inform our esteem members that a strike is imminent, beginning from Monday 26 February, 2024. This strike action is taking place to protest the non-payment of forty percent (40%) peculiar allowance to the State Judiciary workers by Ogun State Government. We have attempted to negotiate with State Government, but they have refused to budge. This decision has left us with no other option but to take action and make our voices heard.

However, I urge you all to join the cause and participate in the strike because your support and solidarity is essential to our success

The five (5) days warning strike will begin on Monday 26 February, 2024 and will last till Friday 1 March, 2024 except the Government concede to the demand of the Union.
