The Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya said the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration is dedicated to advancing the state’s infrastructure, even as he called for collaboration with professional organizations to realize its ambitious development agenda.

Onasanya stated this during a meeting with the executive members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta branch, led by its Chairman, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, during a courtesy visit to his office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Mr. Onasanya noted that under the leadership of Governor Abiodun, the state is experiencing remarkable development, transforming it into a significant hub of construction activity across various sectors.

He noted that the administration has successfully constructed over 600 kilometers of durable roads statewide, citing the recent commencement of the reconstruction of the Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos dual carriageway as a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for residents.

Additionally, the Head of Service pointed out the ongoing growth in the housing and industrial sectors, with the ongoing construction at the Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport as an example of significant engineering projects in the state.

“The government is devoted to building roads and other infrastructure that will endure over time. However, we require the collaboration of the Nigerian Society of Engineers to further enhance our developmental efforts in the state,” Mr. Onasanya stated.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the professional development of public servants, adding that the resolutions from the National Council of Establishment have been adopted in Ogun, paving the way for the elevation of engineers’ entry points from Grade Level 08 to Grade Level 09.

Mr. Onasanya promised to consider their requests regarding the reclassification of engineers’ careers within the civil service in accordance with existing laws and public service regulations.

Mr. Onasanya commended Engr. Idowu on his recent election as Chairman of the NSE, Ogun State chapter, describing him as a distinguished professional whose extensive experience will positively influence the organization.

Engr. Idowu, in his remarks, praised Governor Abiodun for the swift implementation of the National Council on Establishment’s directives concerning the entry-level adjustments for graduate engineers. He urged the government to extend this initiative to include the reclassification of other affected members to enhance their career prospects.

He congratulated the Head of Service on his well-deserved appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership, assuring that the society would continue to support and collaborate with the government to advance the engineering profession and the state’s progress.
