
The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State Chapter, has appointed an ace broadcaster, Honourable Olalekan Alex Shoyinka popularly known as AYINLA EGBA as the new Chairman following resolutions reached at the State Congress held at the weekend.
According to a statement Signed by the acting Secretary of FIBAN, Comrade Moses Okunlola, the appointment was subsequently ratified by the National Congress of FIBAN, held in Ibadan on Sunday, January 18, 2026, thereby giving full constitutional backing to the new leadership arrangement in Ogun State.
The appointment and ratification took place in the presence of key stakeholders at the Ibadan National Congress, which was well attended by members of the outgoing National Working Committee led by Comrade Taiwo Adebayo-Gold, as well as respected national leaders of the Association. Prominent among them were Mogaji Kola Olootu, Prophet Niyi Akinboade (Ologbojo), Comrade Ben Uwabor, Alhaji Gbenga Adebayo-Oladunni (Imalian Boy), Comrade Desmond Nwachukwu, Comrade Seun Awodele, among other distinguished leaders and stakeholders who witnessed and endorsed the proceedings.
Hon. (Chief) Shoyinka is to pilot the affairs of the Association through a seven-man Caretaker Committee, constituted to stabilize, reform, and reposition Ogun FIBAN in line with national best practices. Other members of the Committee include:

• Comrade Bolanle Oluwatoyin Asakpa
• Comrade Olusoji Akindiya (Okanlomo)
• Comrade Remilekun Elegbede
• Comrade Moses Okunlola – Secretary
The selection of Ayinla Egba was unanimous, owing to his wealth of experience and proven leadership credentials within the Association. He has previously served with distinction as Publicity Secretary and General Secretary of Ogun FIBAN, roles in which he demonstrated administrative competence, inclusiveness, and commitment to the ideals of the Association.
The Caretaker Committee has been tasked to undertake a comprehensive process of reform, rebranding, and institutional repositioning of Ogun FIBAN, with a focus on professionalism, unity, credibility, and effective member engagement.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. (Chief) Shoyinka expressed gratitude to the national leadership, elders, and members of the Association for the confidence reposed in him and the Committee. He emphasized that the task ahead requires collective responsibility and shared ownership, noting that:
“This assignment cannot be accomplished by the Caretaker Committee alone. It requires the support, cooperation, and active participation of all members. As our elders say, a heavy burden cannot be carried alone.”
He assured members that the mandate entrusted to the Committee would be handled with seriousness, integrity, transparency, and commitment, adding that the Committee is determined to restore pride, professionalism, and public confidence in Ogun FIBAN within the stipulated period.
The leadership of Ogun FIBAN has therefore called on all members to rally round the new Caretaker Committee and support its efforts towards building a stronger, more united, and more credible Association in Ogun State.
