
All 74 Ward Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu (FNCS) for a second term in the Senate, ahead of the party’s senatorial primary election scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026.
The endorsement was announced on Sunday during a press conference held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.
Speaking on behalf of the ward chairmen, Alhaji Olayiwola Olaleye, popularly known as Daris, said the decision followed wide consultations and a careful evaluation of the senator’s performance during his first term in office.
He described Senator Salisu’s representation as impactful, citing his legislative contributions, empowerment programmes, and commitment to grassroots development across Ogun Central Senatorial District.
According to Olaleye, the endorsement reflects the confidence reposed in the senator by party leaders and stakeholders at the grassroots level.
“We believe a second term will provide him the opportunity to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far and attract more dividends of democracy to the people of Ogun Central,” he said.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of APC Ward Chairmen in Ogun State, Comrade Matthew Sopade, reaffirmed the collective support of the ward chairmen for Senator Salisu’s re-election bid.
The chairmen further stated that Senator Salisu enjoys the backing of Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, leaders of the Ogun Central Senatorial District, and APC stakeholders across the six local government areas in the district — Abeokuta North,
Abeokuta South, Ewekoro, Ifo, Obafemi-Owode, and Odeda.
The ward chairmen called on party faithful to unite behind the senator during the primary election, expressing confidence that his return to the Senate would further strengthen collaboration with the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun and advance the development of Ogun State.
The address was jointly signed by Alhaji Olayiwola Olaleye and Comrade Matthew Sopade on behalf of the 74 APC ward chairmen in Ogun Central Senatorial District.
