
Ogun state youths have been urged to explore agriculture’s vast economic potential towards addressing unemployment and having a sustainable means of livelihood
Hon.Babatunde Bayewunmi, a Nigeria-born, Canada-based cocoa farmer and politician gave the advice while fielding questions from journalists at an event in abeokuta on Monday, 27th October, 2025.
Hon. Babatunde Bayewunmi Popularly known as BRB who also hinted on his aspiration to run for Ogun state House of assembly, Abeokuta North state constituency in the 2027 elections noted that his intentions to run was borne out of his desire to serve the people and make dividends of democracy accessible to the constituents.
BRB emphasizes agriculture’s role in achieving food security and promoting Egba land’s cultural heritage.
He further maintained that farming is a legacy for growth and life.
“Agriculture is a significant sector in Ogun State, with initiatives like cocoa production poised to boost revenue.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration has implemented policies to support farmers, including distributing tractors, fertilizers, and improved seedlings.” He noted
Bayewunmi’s call to action aligns with efforts to revolutionize agriculture in Ogun State.
“By investing in agriculture, youths can contribute to food security and economic growth, making it a vital sector for the state’s development”.
“Ogun State’s strategic location and natural resources make it an ideal hub for agricultural production.
“With the right policies and support, the state can become a major player in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.”
As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, Bayewunmi’s message highlights the importance of agriculture in shaping the state’s future.
