The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, OGBC Chapel, has described the retiring Assistant General Manager (AGM), News and Current Affairs Division of the station, Mr Bola Fajounbo as a journalist par excellence, a role model and mentor to many in the profession.

The union, in a statement by the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Chris Ogbu, and Secretary, Comrade Elizabeth Kuforiji, noted that Mr Fajounbo, who will be retiring formally on the 25th of August when he attains 60, is a rallying point in OGBC News Division and beyond as he relates freely with everyone.

“A thoroughbred professional and meticulous person, Mr Faj, as he is fondly called, is someone who knows how to commend and criticise without injuring the emotion or personality of the person concerned.

“OGBC is known as a training ground for Journalists and Broadcasters, having produced many notable personalities who are making waves in the profession across the globe and Mr Fajounbo is a leading name among the teachers and trainers of these professionals”.

“He is more than a boss to all of us. In deed, he is a father, a brother, a friend, and a source of inspiration to many, especially those of us who passed through his tutelage. “

According to the statement, Mr Fajounbo is an award winning journalist and committed member of the NUJ who served the Union in different capacities both at the Chapel level and the State Council. He served as the OGBC NUJ Chapel Secretary between 1997 and 2000, Secretary, Ogun NUJ Council Press Week Committee in 2005 and Chairman, Ogun Council Press Week Committee in 2006.

The Union, which, in collaboration with the management of the OGBC News and Current Affairs Division, organized a Valedictory Editorial Meeting for the retiring Assistant General Manager on Monday made it known that a befitting send forth will be put together for him next week.

Mr. Bolaji Fajounbo, who is bowing out of service after several years of meritorious service to the Ogun State government, joined the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation in December 1996 and rose through the ranks to the position of Assistant General Manager, News and Current Affairs Division.
