No Generation Is Wasted: Bayewunmi Rebukes Remark, Affirms Youth Potential

A Nigerian-Canadian politician and aspirant for the Abeokuta North State Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babatunde Bayewunmi, has strongly condemned remarks labeling an entire generation as “wasted,” describing such statements as Disparaging and Belittling to the spirit of leadership.

In a statement, Bayewunmi stressed that leadership is meant to inspire, guide, and create opportunities—not diminish the hopes of those it is entrusted to nurture.

“The truth remains clear: no generation is wasted,” he declared, noting that Nigerian youths continue to display remarkable talent, innovation, resilience, and determination despite enduring harsh socio-economic realities.

According to him, any perceived gaps should serve as a call to action for leaders to reflect, reform, and recommit to building systems that empower young people and expand opportunities.

Bayewunmi also called on members of the APC to uphold the true meaning of progressive by embracing inclusiveness and prioritizing youth empowerment.

“As members of a progressive party, we must understand that progress is rooted in inclusion. A truly progressive movement uplifts its youth—it does not label or limit them,” he said.

Reaffirming his confidence in the younger generation, Bayewunmi stated:

“We are not wasted—we are prepared. Prepared to lead, prepared to serve, and prepared to build a better future. What we ask for is not condemnation, but commitment; not doubt, but belief; and not restriction, but opportunity.”
