
The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Ogun State Chapter, has taken a bold step in promoting professional input in governance and infrastructure by paying a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, FNSE. The visit underscored the institute’s commitment to sustainable development, enhanced professional engagement, and collaboration with the state government. It also provided an opportunity to congratulate the Deputy Governor on her 60th birthday celebration.
The delegation, led by the Deputy President of the Institute, QS Bamidele Mafimidiwo, FNIQS, on behalf of QS Dr. Mohammed Bashir, FNIQS, President of the Institute, commended the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State, highlighting his administration’s dedication to infrastructure development, economic growth, and inclusive governance.
Key objectives of the visit included requesting the allocation of suitable land or property in Abeokuta for a permanent NIQS Ogun State Secretariat, emphasizing the importance of placing at least one Quantity Surveyor in each Local Government Council to enhance cost management and accountability, and advocating for career progression of professional Quantity Surveyors in the Ogun State Civil Service.
The delegation included QS Esther Oluwafolakemi Ola-Ade, FNIQS Chapter Chairman, Past Chairmen QS Abiodun Awolesi, FNIQS, QS Tunji Odesesan, QS Ayoade Sorunke, and other Senate members including QS Tayo Fasasi (Deputy Chairman), QS Olamide Okunowo (Treasurer), QS Morenike Sonde (Secretary), Mr. Luqman Adewunmi (Assistant Secretary), and Ms. Gloria Ifiorah (DES, Corporate Services).
Her Excellency warmly received the delegation, commending the institute for promoting construction industry standards and pledging support for its objectives, including conveying the proposals to His Excellency, the Governor.
The courtesy visit was highly successful, strengthening professional relationships, showcasing NIQS’s value to governance and infrastructure development, and reaffirming the Chapter’s commitment to collaborating with the Ogun State Government to deliver sustainable and cost-effective projects.
