The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Ogun State Chapter, on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, recorded a historic milestone with the investiture of QS Esther Oluwafolakemi Ola-Ade, FNIQS, as its 9th Chairman and first female Chairperson, at a well-attended ceremony held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The landmark event, widely described as the dawn of a new era for the profession in the state, attracted an array of eminent personalities from government, the built environment sector, and professional bodies. The ceremony was chaired by the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, CON, who was ably represented by ESV Wale Ojo, FNIESV, General Manager of the Ogun State Housing Corporation.
Delivering the keynote address, QS Joseph Olusegun Ajanlekoko, a Past President of NIQS, spoke on the theme “Building a Sustainable Future: Strategies for Effective Cost Management in the Built Environment.” He emphasized professionalism, sustainability, and innovation as critical drivers for national development and the growth of the construction industry.
The President of NIQS, QS Dr. Aminu Mohammed Bashir, FNIQS, represented by QS Samson Olaniyan, FNIQS, administered the oath of office. QS Ola-Ade thereafter inaugurated the 2025–2027 Senate members and unveiled her agenda, which focuses on government collaboration, professional visibility, capacity building, youth empowerment, and members’ welfare.
In her acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairperson described her emergence as a collective victory for professionalism, inclusivity, and capacity development. She pledged to lead with integrity, collaboration, and renewed commitment to advancing the ideals of quantity surveying practice in Ogun State.
QS Ola-Ade noted that her administration will prioritize capacity building, continuous professional development, mentorship of young quantity surveyors, and strategic engagement with government and key stakeholders in the construction industry.
Stakeholders at the event commended the Ogun State Chapter of NIQS for breaking new ground with the emergence of its first female chairperson, describing the development as a reflection of the growing recognition of competence, merit, and gender inclusion within the profession.
The investiture ceremony not only marked a leadership transition but also reaffirmed the commitment of the NIQS Ogun State Chapter to professionalism, excellence, and sustainable development in the built environment, setting a strong and progressive tone for the future of quantity surveying practice in the state.
