Nigeria’s diversity must be source of its strength, Abiodun.

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has Charged that Nigeria’s diversity should be the source of its strength and unity, not division.

The Governor who gave the charge during the Special Jumat service to mark the 2026 Ahmed Forces Remembrance day celebration, held at the Central Mosque, Kobiti Abeokuta added that our current security realities reminds us that peace is never accidental, rather it is s sustained through sacrifice, vigilance and unity.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele emphasized that Nigeria is worth protecting together as we continue to build our future together, urging all its citizenry to reject violence, embrace dialog, promote tolerance and support lawful efforts to secure our nation

According to him, “the Amed Forces Remembrance Day reminds us that the peace we enjoy was secured at a great cost. Our fallen heroes stood between our nation and chaos, serving Nigeria, without regards to tribe, religion or region, they served one nation under one flag, bound by solemn oath, their sacrifice continues to unite us as one people”

He then stressed the Ogun state, his government remained committed to supporting the welfare and dignity of the families of our fallen heroes nd the Nigerian, Abiodun also gave kudos to the Legion for its dedication to preserving the memory of our fallen heroes and advocating for their families, as well as individuals and organizations supporting this noble cause.

Abiodun acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahret Tinubu for his leadership and continued commitment to national unity and security informing that under his leadership, deliberate efforts are being made to strengthen the armed forces, improve the welfare of security personnel and confront the complex security challenges facing our nation

In his sermon, Mufasi of Egbaland, Alhaji Abdulai Odaranile, said security of lives and properties is very important in every nation of the world, as any nation without adequate security is prone to slavery, noting that its unfortunate that some of those saddled with the responsibilities lost their lives in line of duties, adding that God is pleased with everyone who come together to offer prayers to those who laid their lives for the Nation as well as has a way of comforting the families of the deceased.

Speaking on behalf of the Royal fathers at the Service, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, said the issue of security requires the efforts of everyone in curbing it, enjoining the nigerian Military to face the issue squarely and not involve in coup plotting, praying that God will continue to repose the souls of the deceased and comfort their families.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Baba Adinni of Egbaland and former Military Administrator, Captain Abdulrasheed Adisa Raji, thanked God for good live to witness the 2026 Armed forces celebration, praying that God will continue to direct the path of the President of the Nation and Governors with a view to leading the country to the right path, while also commending the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the support given to families of the departed souls.

Highlight of the event was reading from the Holy Quran and prayers for the Nation, Ogun State and its Government.
