
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abeokuta Branch is set to host a memorial lecture in honor of the Late Rear Admiral Olufemi Olumide, FNSE, OFR, mni, NN (Rtd). Rear Admiral Olumide was a pioneer of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), a former Federal Commissioner for Transport and later Works and Housing, as well as the Former Chairman of Ogun State Television and Broadcasting Stations.
According to a statement signed by the General Secretary, Engr. Abolaji Ilori, PhD, the lecture will commemorate the life and legacy of this distinguished engineer, leader, and statesman who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s national development. The event will take place on Saturday, 7th September 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Bolude Oyebolu Engineering Centre, NSE Abeokuta Secretariat, Abeokuta.

The lecture, titled “Smart Grid Technology: Revolutionizing Nigeria’s Power Distribution”, will be delivered by Engr. Ademola Agoro, FNSE, MD/CEO of Protogy Global Services. The event will be chaired by the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE.
The Special Guest of Honour will be Chief Olabode George, FNSE, Former Military Governor of Ondo State, while H.E. Engr. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, PhD, FNSE, Former President of Nigeria, will serve as the Distinguished Guest of Honour. The Distinguished Special Guest of Honour will be H.E. Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, FNSE, Ogun State Deputy Governor.

The statement further noted that Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, FNSE, Chairman of the NSE Abeokuta Branch, will serve as host and will welcome guests to this momentous event. The lecture will explore the transformative potential of smart grid technology in revolutionizing Nigeria’s power distribution system, while paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Rear Admiral Olufemi Olumide.
