The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) is seeking to strengthen its collaboration with the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) to enhance the delivery of public-sector energy projects across the country.
In a visit to the ECN Headquarters on Wednesday, 21st January 2026, the NIEEE President, Engr. Felix Adegboye, FNIEEE, emphasized that “our visit today is rooted in our desire for deeper collaboration with you,” further expressing NIEEE’s readiness to function as a technical think tank for the Commission. He stressed that NIEEE is well-positioned to partner with ECN in ensuring that public-sector energy projects are not only conceived and designed but also executed in line with global engineering standards. This, he added, would leverage the collective expertise of electrical and electronic engineers across Nigeria, creating sustainable solutions for the country’s energy needs.
Engr. Adegboye’s message to the ECN leadership underscored the Institute’s commitment to enhancing technical policy development, improving energy infrastructure, and aligning Nigeria’s energy projects with international best practices.
In response, the Director-General of ECN, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, FNSE, welcomed the visit and thanked Engr. Adegboye for choosing the Commission as the first place to visit officially after assuming office as NIEEE President. He assured the delegation of ECN’s readiness to collaborate closely with NIEEE, acknowledging the Institute’s pivotal role in advancing technical and policy solutions for the energy sector.
The visit marks a significant step toward fostering a more robust relationship between NIEEE and ECN, with the ultimate goal of advancing Engineering excellence in Nigeria’s energy sector and contributing to the country’s long-term energy sustainability.
