
In a bid to enhance effective and efficient security of lives and properties of Ogun state Judiciary arm of government, Judiciary Staff Union Of Nigeria (JUSUN), Ogun State Branch has organized a one-day training programme for Watchmen of the Ogun State Judiciary held at the Ceremonial Court Hall, Judiciary Complex, Abeokuta, on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
The event, themed “Empowering Watchmen for Effective Security Without Firearms,” is aimed at enhancing the skills of Watchmen in ensuring effective security within the judiciary complex without relying on firearms.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of JUSUN, Ogun State Branch,Comrade (Lion) Ajiboye Olanrewaju Tunji, appreciated the Honourable Chief Judge of Ogun State, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Arinola Dipeolu, for approving the training and her continuous support for initiatives that promote staff development and institutional efficiency.

According to comrade Ajiboye, the training programme reflects the union’s unwavering commitment to the continuous growth, development, and operational excellence of the Ogun State Judiciary.
“From inception, JUSUN has prioritised the welfare and capacity building of its members and the training remains a testament in that direction.
” We fully recognise the indispensable role our watchmen play in safeguarding judiciary facilities, protecting government assets, and ensuring a secure working environment. It is therefore imperative that they are appropriately trained, equipped, and oriented to discharge their duties effectively and professionally.”
He however frowned at the reports of misconduct, negligence, and dereliction of duty among some watchmen noting that such behaviour is unacceptable, and will not be allowed to tarnish the reputation of the reputable legal institution.
“This training has thus been designed to reposition our watchmen, reignite their sense of responsibility, and refocus their commitment towards delivering effective, reliable, and disciplined security services.
“This programme is structured as a Training of Trainers (ToT) initiative. We expect participants to not only acquire essential skills and knowledge but also to cascade the training to their colleagues across all judicial divisions and courts. We are optimistic that this will significantly strengthen our overall security framework.” He Concluded.

One of the resource persons, a highly experienced security professional with an impressive career in the Nigeria Police Force. (Lion) Chief Adeneye Abayomi Kehinde, tutored the watchmen on “Proactive Security Through Observation, Intelligence, and Peaceful Intervention.” enjoined the security personnel to always discharge their duties diligently and pay more attention to intelligence gathering.
The second guest Lecturer, who is a legal practitioner and retired police officer, Mr. Jacob Godonu Popogbe, spoke on Security Awareness, offering critical insights for frontline security personnel.

Other dignitaries at the event included Hon. Justice A. J. Ojikutu who served as the reviewer of the lectures, Chief Registrar, the Deputy Chief Registrars, members of the Management Team, and other Executive Committee,
The JUSUN Chairman also appreciated the Chairman, training committee of Ogun State Judiciary, Hon Justice Olanrewaju Mabekoje for attending the training program and addressing the participants
