The Elebute of Ebute Igbooro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, HRM Oba Amusa Adetunji Dosunmu, on Saturday installed Chief (Mrs.) Omolara Judith Egungbohun as the Iya Ewe of Ebute Igbooro, in recognition of her deep love for children and her contributions to community development through the IBD Foundation.
The installation ceremony, which took place at the Ebute Igbooro Primary School, was a colourful and well-attended event, drawing traditional rulers, community chiefs, political leaders, women and youth groups, as well as dignitaries from across Ogun State and beyond.
Speaking during the ceremony, Oba Dosunmu described the chieftaincy title as a deserving honour, noting that Chief Mrs. Egungbohun has consistently demonstrated compassion, humility, and a strong commitment to the welfare of children and the less privileged within the community.
The Kabiyesi said Chief Mrs Omolara consistent humanitarian efforts through the IBD Foundation endeared her to the people of Ebute Igbooro.
The monarch explained that the title was conferred in recognition of her sustained empowerment programmes, educational support initiatives, welfare outreach, and food distribution schemes, which have positively impacted many families in Yewa land.
The celebration was witnessed by her husband, Alhaji Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, as well as members of her family, friends, and well-wishers, who joined the community in celebrating the new Iya Ewe.
While speaking, Chief Mrs. Omolara Egungbohun expressed gratitude to God Almighty, also the Elebute of Ebute Igbooro, the council of chiefs, and the entire community for the honour bestowed on her.
She pledged to remain committed to initiatives that promote the welfare of children, empower women, and foster sustainable community development.
The event was marked by traditional rites, prayers, and cultural displays, underscoring the cultural significance of the chieftaincy title and the high esteem in which the new Iya Ewe is held by the people of Ebute Igbooro.
