Hon. Mudashir warns School Children to shun Social Vices

In a bid to reel out our society of the acts capable of ruining the lives of our future leaders, the Executive Chairman, Ogun Waterside Local Government, Abigi, Hon. Mudashir AbdulLateef Adekunle has warned the entire youths mostly school children in the council area to shun drugs, cultism, pre-marital sex, and other social vises for them to be useful for themselves as well as the society in the nearest future.

The Council Boss who was represented by the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) Dr. Olusoji Adekoya gave the warning at the inauguration of a sensitization program entitled; ” Inauguration of School-Based Health and Safety Committee” organized by the Council’s Health Educator, Mr. Yusuf Moshood Olayinka held recently at the Local Government Education Authority Cooperative Hall in Abigi.

He then used the medium to advise the parents and guidance to always keep watch on their wards towards achieving a healthy school environment as well as the only way to build a better society that all of us could be proud of. He reminded them that children nowadays needed to be fully engaged as an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

Hon. Mudashir reiterated that the level at which our teeming youths embarked on misuse of drugs such as smoking marijuana, Indian helms, involvement in rapes, yahoo yahoo, pre-marital sex, and many more amongst the secondary school children is becoming alarming that if not properly checked could jeopardize the efforts of the governments and majority of the parents. So, they should keep their eyes on their wards’ activities at all times.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Ojomotumoro of Abigiland who is also the Chairman, Council of Obas in the Local Government, HRM Oba Olusegun Ogunye commended the efforts of the organizers for putting the committee together in order to catch them young and rejuvenate the deteriorating aspects of our teeming youths. He stressed that this singular act alone will reshape those already involved as well as sounding a note of warning to those who might have not entered the circle yet.

Speaking earlier, the organizer of the programme, Mr. Yusuf Moshood Olayinka appreciated the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mudashir Adekunle, Executive and Legislative Arms, HOLGA, Dr. Olusoji Adekoya, Supervisor for Health, Alhaja Muinat Adeleke, Supervisor for Education, Hon. Ogunji Olugbenga, Executive Secretary, Education Authority, Hon. Onaniyi, Director/ Coordinator, Primary Health Care, Dr. Oladipupo Qazeem, other Management Team, Apex Nurse, Mrs. Onihale, DSNO, Mrs. Adesina J.C and the Local Immunization Officer Mr. George Kayode, Traditional Rulers, Teachers, Parents, Guidance, chosen Committee Members, and everyone that graced the occasion as he was overwhelmed by the turnout as their contributions and supports are well noted and acknowledged.

He pointed out that the primary aims and objectives for setting up the committee to monitor our students in schools are to forestall any act capable of increasing the level of morbidity, mortality, and physiological, psychological, and emotional health of the school-growing population in Ogun Waterside Local Government. In addition, it’s a popular saying that no nation can rise above its education level, therefore to build the nation’s economy, learners cum youths must be properly taken care of while their well-being to achieve all these can not be overemphasized and he stressed that, all hands must be on deck to check this ugly incidence on time for us to have a better society.
