The Chairman, Ogun Waterside Local Government, Abigi, Hon. Mudashir Adekunle AbdulLateef has presented a budget estimate of Five Billion, Two Hundred and Sixty Million Naira (#5,260,000,000.00) tagged “Budget of Renew Hope for the people of the Council Area” before the Ogun Waterside local government legislative arm.
The Council Boss reeling out the breakdown explained that the Council is expected to rake in thirty One Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira (#31,470,000.00) as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Four Billion, Five Hundred and One Million, Five Hundred and Thirty Thousands Naira (#4,501,530,000.00) from Statutory Allocation from the Federation Account Allocation from State Government Account, One Hundred and Twenty Five Million Naira Only (#125,000,000.00) Value Added Tax (VAT) Twenty Million Naira Only (#20,000,000.00), Proceed from Excess Crude Oil Two Hundred and Fifty Two Million Naira Only (#252,000,000.00) as well as from the Excess Gains which is One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira Only (#150,000,000.00) respectively.
He added that, the hope of realising this amount is premised on the need to increase the revenue drive of the Local Government which will further widened in the year to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and projected increase in receipt from the Federation and State Accounts noting that this is to maintain the culture of balanced budget.
Hon. Mudashir emphasised his administration commitment to the prompt payment of staff salaries and allowances estimated at One Billion and Forty Six Million Naira Only (#1,046,000,000.00), social contributions Eight Hundred and Twenty Two Million Naira Only (#822,000,000.00)
Others included, consolidated Revenue Fund Charges of Two Billion, Eight Hundred Million Naira Only (#2,800,000,000.00) being part of the recurrent expenditure as well as the capital expenditure which is proposed at Three Hundred and Twenty Seven Naira Only (#327,000,000.00).
The Council’s Helm man highlighted the capital projects to include, spending of Eleven Million Naira Only (#11,000,000.00) on various forms of agricultural ventures, while some other extension agricultural services are ongoing within the Council Area. ‘It is our hope that this will go a long way in promoting agricultural activities, helping our farmers and boosting food production and also allow raw materials to be exposed to both local and international markets.
“Further more, on the grading, construction and rehabilitation of roads is said to gulp One Hundred and Thirty Four Million Naira Only (#134,000,000.00) while the administration is proposing to spend Nineteen Million Naira Only (#19,000,000.00) on health sector with the aim of taking care of the people on one hand and allowing the council to participate actively on the National Health programmes in the other hand, all of which are aimed at ensuring quality health for our people.
“As we all know that, education is a good legacy that we can leave for our children, we have earmarked Forty One Million Naira Only (#41,000,000.00) to cater for the rehabilitation of Public Primary School Buildings as well as provision of writing and instructional materials for our pupils in Public Primary Schools across the Council Area.
“The government is also planning to spend a sum of Thirty Million Naira Only (#30,000,000.00) for the Councilors as provision for constituency projects in various wards of the Local Government.”
He then used the medium to appreciate His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, the State Governor for the unflinching support his administration has been enjoying since inception of office as Chairman of Ogun Waterside Local Government.
He promised to deliver all his electioneering promises before the expiration of his tenure.
In his acceptance speech, the Leader of the Council, Hon. Felix Ajayi appreciated the resilience, commitment and dedication of the Chairman towards his efforts at taking the Local Government to an enviable height which he had been doing, he assured he assured that the house will work assiduously to pass the budget after thorough scrutiny while calling on the Directors and Heads of Department to cooperate with them in a bid to have a speedy passage of the documents.
Dignitaries at the budget presentation included, Hon. Oladipupo Ikuenomore, Secretary to the Local Government, Honourable Councillors, Supervisors, Alh. Akeem Balogun, Head of Local Government Administration, Special Advisers and Consultants to the Chairman, Directors/ Heads of Department amongst many others.
