…Says activities of Vandals thrown the Local government into darkness for over two years
The Executive Chairman, Oguwaterside Local Government, Honourable Abdul-Lateef Adekunle Mudashir has commenced the installation of Solar Street lights in all the 10 wards in the local government.
The provision of the solar street lights according to Honourable mudashir was in a bid to address the incessant power outage in Ogun waterside local government which has no doubt put the entire local in darkness for over 2 years.
The Ogun Waterside Local Government Helmsman lamented the hardship that residents of the local government faced as a result of lack of power supply caused by vandalisation of cables that connected the local government to the national grid by Vandals around J3/J4 along Ore-ijebu ode sagamu expressway.
He noted that he considered the option of illuminating the communities with solar power because of the huge amount of money involved in purchasing cables and others that will be needed to restore the electricity back to Ogun Waterside and the Local Government doesn’t have the required fund to carry out such project at the moment.
The Council boss who went round to inspect places where the solar street lights will be installed maintained that for the first phase of the project, the Local government has acquired 120 solar lights with poles to be distributed to the 10 wards and the installation will commence immediately.
According to him “For over two years now that the entire high tension cables from the J3/J4 axis of the Ijebu Ode – Benin Expressway in Ogun East Local Government up to the Ogun Waterside Local Government had been vandalized and carted away by men of the underworld which made it highly impossible for the Governments to reenergize due to paucity of fund. “
“That was the main reason we decided to embark on the project of lightening the entire Local Government in phases with the first phase of 120 Solar lights with its poles which is going to be distributed to all the ten (10) wards and is going to be an ongoing project until the entire Local Government is illuminated.” He added.
Hon. Mudashir also explained that the way the Local Government Secretariat is always in darkness at night is worrisome to him and 16 solar lights with poles have been earmarked for the place to be illuminated to make it more accessible at night and for the night guards to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.
The Local Government chairman also said, his administration has completed the renovation of the Legislative Chamber to make it more conducive for the lawmakers while discharging their legislative duties as representatives of the people.
He therefore assured the entire people of Ogun waterside local government of his administration’s commitment to make life more meaningful for them.

Great idea. But the major root of the problem must be solve …
He needs to work on the electricity regardless of the cost .
Lack of adequate security I:e civil defense in the area and long term power outage is a major advantage to the criminals..
It is a project that is highly Rich in maximum social benefits to the people of the local government. It worrisome, ridiculous and embarrassing to mention that a whole local government area in Ogun state has never been connected to electricity for decades.
I will advise the council chairman to embark on solar system of electrification for the entire local government area by consulting the solar energy companies who will establishe solar villages at strategic locations, as this will provide a permanent solution to the perennial problem.
