..Commends Tinubu, Abiodun, Stakeholders Over $7bn Investment
The Member representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle, popularly known as Lawee, has described the signing of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone as a historic milestone for Ogun Waterside and the state.
Lawee, in a statement, said the projects present significant opportunities for the people of Ogun Waterside, particularly in employment, business, logistics, industrial development and economic growth.
In a statement personally signed, Hon Lawal noted that the proposed investment of more than $7 billion, with a projected creation of over 50,000 direct jobs, had the potential to unlock the economic possibilities of the state’s coastline and transform the fortunes of host communities.
The lawmaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s support and commitment towards providing the necessary regulatory, infrastructural and institutional framework for the realisation of the projects.
Lawee also applauded Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for what he described as his vision, persistence and efforts towards advancing the long-standing ambition to develop Ogun Waterside as a strategic hub for maritime trade, investment and industrialisation.
According to him, the development represents an important opportunity for Ogun Waterside to assume a more prominent role in the emerging maritime and industrial economy of Nigeria.
“As the host community, we recognise the enormous opportunities this landmark project presents for our people, particularly in employment, business, logistics, industrial development and economic growth.
“The proposed investment of over $7 billion and projected creation of more than 50,000 direct jobs represent a significant step towards unlocking the economic potential of our coastline.”
Lawee stressed the need for the people and host communities to remain central to the implementation of the projects, noting that the benefits of such a major investment should translate into tangible improvements in the lives of residents.
He commended all stakeholders whose contributions had brought the projects to the current stage, expressing optimism that the implementation would be carried out in a manner that would promote sustainable development and inclusive economic opportunities.
“This is a moment of pride for Ogun Waterside and a moment to look forward with renewed hope,” he said.
The lawmaker congratulated the people of Ogun Waterside on the development and expressed confidence that the Gateway Deep Sea Port and Blue Marine Special Economic Zone would open a new chapter of economic opportunities for the area.
