
A Canada-based Egba iconic youth, Babatunde Bayewunmi, has extended his warm congratulations to the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, Otileta IV, on the successful celebration of the 2025 Odun Omo Olowu festival.
In a statement, Honourable Babatunde Bayewunmi, popularly known as BRB and an Abeokuta North assembly hopeful, praised the uniqueness of this year’s Owu Day celebration and the week-long activities that created a lasting impact on the history of the Owu Kingdom.
He commended the Ogun State government for providing an enabling environment that allowed the event to be celebrated across the state.
BRB also appreciated the rich cultural heritage of Owu people and Nigeria, showcased through various performances during the grand finale.
He recalled the symbolic cutting of the Yam by the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, signifying the celebration of the New Yam Festival by Owu people worldwide.

The event attracted dignitaries, including former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, who advocated for the reawakening of indigenous culture and tradition.
Honourable Babatunde Bayewunmi, a large-scale farmer and specialist in Cocoa planting and export, is a notable politician, grassroots advocate, and philanthropist.
While urging youths to venture into farming as a means of attaining food security in Nigeria, he assured that he will continue to promote Egba land’s cultural heritage, including farming as a legacy of growth and life.
The theme of the 2025 Odun Omo Olowu Festival was “Awakening the Owu Spirit, Home, Heritage, and Hope”.
