The former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and a key player in Ogun State politics, Dr. ‘Tunde Lemo, OFR, has mourned the death of Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, a veteran sports journalist and director of programmes at Ogun State Television (OGTV).
Tunde Lemo said on his authorised Facebook page that “It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, a veteran sports journalist whose professionalism, dedication and passion for the media and sports defined a remarkable era in Ogun journalism”.
According to the astute Banker, “the late Akintunde’s commitment to the broadcasting craft, his insightful commentary and his mentorship to generations of broadcasters, made him a beacon in our media community”.
Lemo said the burial of Alhaji Akintunde at Sunnat Muslim Maqbara, Abeokuta, yesterday marked the end of a life committed to excellence in broadcast journalism, affirming that his legacy would continue to inspire many.
Condoling with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the management of Ogun State Television (OGTV), colleagues, friends, and especially the bereaved family, Lemo said he shared in their grief.
“May Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort all who mourn this profound loss”, he prayed.
