Four hundred rural community members benefited from Health Fellowship free medical outreach in Ipokia.

Over four hundred and fifty community members from Ijofin ward in Ipokia Local Government area of Ogun State have benefited from a capstone project titled free Medical outreach organised by a National Health Fellow, representing Ipokia local government, Rachael Fifamen Hunkokoe.
The one day medical outreach program held on Thursday, 18th of September, 2025 at the Methodist Primary School playground, Ijofin was massively attended by community members and dignitaries.
In her welcome address, the organiser of the program who is also one of the 774 National Health Fellows and representing Ipokia local government Rachael Hunkokoe pointed out that National Health Fellow (NHF) is a new initiative by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and SWAp Coordination office designed to strengthen and improve Primary Health Care Centers across the Nation’s 774 local government Areas.
Health Fellow Rachael Hunkokoe disclosed further that these Health Fellows were deployed across the country to carry out their designated roles and assignments relating to health and as part of her little way of giving back to the community and as well as fulfilling her National Health Fellowship assignment put together the free medical outreach program.
Planet news. com.ng gathered that the Implementation of the medical outreach program according to the Ipokia local government representative Rachael Hunkokoe was a long-awaited capstone project and her desire to contribute her quota to improve health condition of people at the grassroot.
Planet news.com.ng gathered further that medical officials from the local government including, the Ipokia Local Government Health Authority Secretary Dr. Akindele, Head of Pharmacy department, Ipokia Local Government, Mr. Taiwo Akala James, Malaria Program Officer, Mrs.Olufunke Aderohunmu , WDC Chairman, Primary Health Centre, Ijofin, Alhaji Saheed Idowu Adeniyi,Chief CHEW Yekini (Focal Person Primary Healthcare Center, Ijofin, Nurse Adegbola (Primary Healthcare Center, TUBE, Chief Pharmacist Aralawon Taiwo graced the one day free health medical outreach program.
In their health talks specially challenged the people not to toy with their health advised them to visit the hospital anytime they feel unhealthy.
The Health official who commended the initiator for taking the bull by the horns in organizing such a life saving program also thanked some individuals for their kind hearted hearts, willingness to help and support for a good vision of impacting the community by the Health Fellow, Rachael Fifamen Hunkokoe.
The medical outreach was divided into two sections as Section 1 covered Health Talks and Topics on Hepatitis B and C, Antenatal and postnatal care, Immunization and its importance to children, Family planning and contraceptive options and Myths by
resource persons included
Nurse Adegbola Ruth, Chief CHEW Yekini, and Mr. Tijani Oluwaseun (M&E Ipokia.
Community members present were given the opportunity to ask questions on the topics covered and some other areas that seemed uncleared to them.
Section 2 of the capstone project covered One-on-One Consultation with health personnel and Free Treatment of
Hepatitis B and C,
Blood glucose,
Malaria testing and treatment,
Blood pressure screening.
About
100 men and 50 women were tested negative for Hepatitis
270 men and women were screened for blood glucose
180 men and women were tested positive for malaria and were provided with a 5-day routine of malaria drugs,
160 infants (aged 0-10) also received free treatment.
At the end of the medical outreach program which came to a close at about thirty minutes to seven in the evening, Referrals were made, and some individuals whose cases beyond the capacity of the program were advised to visit the nearest Primary Health Care center for further medical attention.
Appreciating God for the success of medical outreach and moral and financial support received from some well meaning individuals,
the Health Fellow appealed for more partnership and support from other well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies who shared in her vision and desire to impact in this meaningful way
through her capstone project aimed at Onboarding 50 vulnerable community members across the local government into Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme.
Earlier, the organizer has embarked on courtesy visits to the palaces of two royal fathers in the community, the ololo of Ijofin, His Royal Highness, Oba Moruf Ayinla Awode, and the Opo of Idosemo, His Royal Highness, Oba James Ajani, to help mobilise community members for the program of which paved way for the attendance of over four hundred and fifty people from the two major towns and some adjouning communities to benefit from the free medical outreach program.
