
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has urged birth attendants in the state to uphold the highest standards of maternal safety.
The Governor, stated this while speaking at the Ogun State Annual Birth Attendants’ Conference,
Abiodun represented by his deputy Noimot Salako oyedele in his keynote address, praised the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board, led by Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye, for their efforts in supporting the state’s healthcare agenda. Describing the theme “The Role of Birth Attendants in Safe Deliveries,” as timely and relevant.”
He said. “It reminds us that every pregnancy and childbirth in Ogun State must be safe, well-managed, and entrusted to capable hands.”
The governor warned against harmful practices, emphasizing, “No woman or child should be lost to negligence, misinformation, or procedures that fail to meet safety standards.”
The governor stressed the importance of integrity, diligence, and respect for human life, citing the Yoruba ethic of Omoluabi
Abiodun outlined the administration’s plans to strengthen community health systems, equip frontline workers, and expand training for birth attendants.
“Our goal is to make Ogun State one of the safest places in Nigeria to give birth,” he declared.
The Conference brought together traditional, mission, and community-based birth attendants from across the state to brainstorm on the way forward for progression.
